What Kenwood Means to Me . . .

SO, the time has finally arrived . . . this Sunday Grace Community Church will launch our 2nd Campus at another High School across town, at Kenwood High School. As I and my team (Cross Street K thru 5th) have prepared for this amazing event I’ve had time to process what Kenwood means to me, not only for the kids whose lives will be forever changed but for the Cross Street Team as well.

You see, last Sunday was a Soft Launch at Kenwood (basically, a run-through). My style as a leader is to find volunteers who are sharp and passionate about Cross Street, help them find their niche, and let them take off with their new roles without me looking over their shoulders. I want volunteers to rise to the occasion and take ownership of Cross Street. Well, that is EXACTLY what happened at CROSS STREET KENWOOD (love the sound of that) as we went through the motions of what CS will be like on the 30th. I saw an entire team, some new and some vets, take ownership and rise to the occasion.

So what does the Kenwood launch mean to me? It means that volunteers at this new location will have opportunities to rise to new heights as they serve. It means that our AMAZING volunteers at Rossview High School will rethink their roles and help fill the void left behind by the absence of our Kenwood Team. It means OPPORTUNITY for both campuses . . . for those people who attend Grace but haven’t committed to serving at Grace. But most importantly, the Kenwood launch means that we have the incredible opportunity to impact an amazing community of kids and parents for the GLORY OF OUR SAVIOR!

In Cross Street our slogan is START THE REVOLUTION . . . a revolution meaning a change for the better. So as for the Kenwood Community, LET THE REVOLUTION BEGIN!

You’ve done an amazing job raising up leaders, and helping them to know and use their gifts at Cross Street…keep up the great work!

It’s always a strange feeling when you find an image of yourself on a random website/blog. No big deal.
